I. Pre-Session Prep: Setting the Stage for Stunning Photos

A little preparation goes a long way in creating beautiful photos. Here's what you can do to ensure a smooth and successful session:

  • Outfit Selection: Dress to Impress (and be Comfortable!)

    • Choose outfits that reflect your personality and style. Think about the overall feel you want for your photos (e.g., casual, formal, playful).

    • Coordinate but don't match. Instead of everyone wearing the exact same color, choose a complementary color palette. Consider using a color wheel for guidance.

    • Prioritize comfort. You'll be moving around, so choose clothes that fit well and allow for ease of movement.

    • Consider the location. A flowing dress might be perfect for a beach shoot but less practical in a wooded area.

    • Avoid busy patterns and logos. These can be distracting and date your photos quickly. Solid colors or subtle textures work best.

    • Think about accessories. Scarves, hats, jewelry, and belts can add personality and visual interest to your photos.

    • Bring extra outfits! Having a backup option is always a good idea in case of unexpected spills or changes of mind.

    • Iron your clothes! Wrinkles can be noticeable in photos.

  • Hair and Makeup: Polish and Perfection

    • Consider professional hair and makeup. This is a great way to pamper yourself and ensure you look your best. If you're doing your own, practice beforehand.

    • Keep makeup natural but slightly more defined than usual. Photography can wash out features, so a little extra definition around the eyes and lips is helpful.

    • Pay attention to your nails. Neatly manicured nails add a polished touch to close-up shots.

    • Bring hairspray and any touch-up makeup. You may need to make adjustments throughout the session.

  • Location, Location, Location:

    • We've already discussed the location for your shoot, but if you have any last-minute ideas, please let me know!

    • Consider the time of day and how the light will affect the location. Golden hour (the hour before sunset) provides beautiful, soft lighting.

  • The Day Before:

    • Get a good night's sleep! This will help you look and feel refreshed for your session.

    • Drink plenty of water. Hydrated skin looks healthy and radiant.

    • Pack a small snack and water. Photo shoots can be tiring, so it's important to stay energized.

  • What to Bring:

    • Your outfits (including any accessories)

    • Any props you'd like to include (e.g., a favorite blanket, a sports ball, a musical instrument)

    • Snacks and drinks

    • A hairbrush and any touch-up makeup

    • A positive attitude and a willingness to have fun!

II. During the Session: Relax and Enjoy the Moment!

  • Trust your photographer. I will guide you through posing and help you feel comfortable in front of the camera.

  • Don't be afraid to be yourself! The most beautiful photos are the ones that capture genuine emotions and personalities.

  • Relax and have fun! This is a chance to create lasting memories, so enjoy the experience.

  • Communicate with me. If you have any concerns or feel uncomfortable with a pose, please let me know.
